This is a wonderful time of year; the holidays, family, friends and parties. The last thing you may be thinking about is the new year and what you want to accomplish. However this is the perfect time to not only to start thinking about it, but to start planning.
If you are a goals oriented person with a lot of ambition and drive start now is the time to plan the year ahead. You don’t have to seclude yourself away for the remaining weeks of the year, just do a little each day. Make it simple, get a 2015 calendar and look at each month as a segment of your life.
What do you want to accomplish during each segment? If you have a major goal like opening a business or writing a book, you may determine that each month is a stepping stone to accomplishing the overall goal.
If opening a business is your goal, then you need to start making a list of what you need to do to accomplish this by the desired time. Then look at your calendar and start blocking out days and weeks so you can determine the time it will take you to be ready. If you are currently working or have many commitments, you might find less available time to accomplish your goal. That’s fine, just work within the limits you have to get the job done. Don’t use how busy you are as an excuse.
If you want to write a book, the average non-fiction book is around 60,000 words. That might seem overwhelming, but a page with one inch margins, double spaced has about 250 words. If you write 3 pages per day you can accomplish your goal in 2 ½ months.
You can do this for almost any goal you want; losing weight, purchasing a home, recording a cd, making new friends, having a loving relationship—but you must know what you want and why and when. Now is a good time to start. In fact it’s a great time to start. If you need help to begin or to plan or stay the course a coach can be an excellent investment. There are business coaches, marriage coaches, relationship coaches, college planning coaches, writing coaches, singing and music coaches, behavior modification coaches, just to name a few. I love to help people in business, so If I can help you just let me know. HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
