I was thinking about the recent job creations numbers that were released a few weeks ago. These particular numbers represented the number of jobs that were created for December.
These are the worst numbers in 3 years! What’s more startling is the spin that some commentators were giving to blame away the bad numbers: the weather was bad (everywhere?). It was the holidays (a time in the past were hiring additional people especially for retail, restaurants and entertainment took place).
But the good news, it was reported, is that unemployement dropped. Really?
Unemployment decreased because people gave up looking for work and are no longer being accounted for.
Here’s the bottom line: how much money does blame put in your pocket? Last time I looked – not very much. In my book, it doesn’t really matter why, it’s what you do about it and using the opportunities and your talents to live an exceptional life.
If you are not earning income or earning as much as you would like, then what can you do about it? You don’t have to wait for a job to open, create one for yourself. Look at your talents, the things you already know and see how you can turn them into money.
You have skills, there are things you can do that others can’t.
If you are tech savvy, can you hire yourself out to someone who isn’t? Are you a graphic artist, are you creative, can you write, teach, mentor, play an instrument, are you mechanical, can you run errands for someone who is not able to? What talents do you have that you can use now to increase your income?
Do it for yourself, do it today. Create your Life. The sooner you start the sooner you will get paid. Trust me blame is not very lucrative.
